Chronology of conflict (Date):

- 1733, Zenger accused of seditious libel.

- Spring 1734, evidence that Zenger interitionally           published blame of public man or law without           yustification presented.

- Nov. 17, 1734, Zenger arrested and taken to NYC jail 

  could not pay and he retvined to jail.

- April 16, 1735, court ordered James Alexander and       William Smith (Zenger's attorneu's) were no longer       allowed to practice so Zenger had no legal               representation.

- Aug. 4, 1735, court commenced and Zenger found       "not guilty" by
